Indian Independence Day

Our 2009 Indian Independence Day was much tamer than last year. We started it off by going to the American Diner and having an American breakfast. Sounds reasonable, no? While we love Indian food, it is true that once in a while it is good to have some variety. We were just craving good 'ol eggs, pancakes, waffles and french toast. What we had was mediocre, and nowhere near the black bean cakes at Bread and Ink, waffles at Simpatica, or pancakes at Pamela's. It was still an adventurous day.

After breakfast we went to a beautiful park called Lodhi Gardens. It was a nice break from the hustle and bustle of the rest of Delhi, but it was still pretty crowded. In it we saw people *trying* to fly their kites. That is what all these people are doing in front of this tomb.

The park is known for its many varieties of birds. There were a couple of parrots in the trees. This one is looking right at us.
