Garbage collectors
No need for garbage trucks! Throwing garbage on the streets and providing food for wild animals = sustainability. None of that "green energy" crap you all have in U.S.

Holy Holi
We're just getting around to posting some old photos, including these Holi ones.
Holi is the Indian holiday that marks the start of spring. You are supposed to throw colored powder on people in a playful way. We began the day with our neighbor knocking on our door to politely ask us if he could put powder on our faces in a symbol of good wishes. We obliged, but if you walk around outside people are not as polite as you'll likely be pelted with colors regardless of whether or not you want them all over your clothes. Mostly kids play Holi and the adults drink a cannibas laced drink that gets them high and knocks them out by lunchtime. It was eerily quiet after 1pm that day with no one on the streets, and we realized it was because people got wasted earlier in the day.
This is how Dan started the day

When you wash the color off, it's quite difficult to remove and turns different colors. This was originally created by black powder that turned into bright pink.

Udaipur part 2
We're only 3 months behind in uploading these.
Bats in a tree. There were so many trees around, but we were told these bats only nest in the same two trees. So much for bats liking dark places.

Seeing these up close is enough to drive anyone batty!

We were pretty sure this guy was a master of disguise

And the guy on the left may be his cohort.

The drive through the rural Rajasthan desert was one of our favorite parts. This is a wheel that cows turn to get water out of the well.

Caked cow dung is used for cooking fuel and is also used to build huts. Apparently it is not a smelly mess when it's dried.

This palace-turned-hotel is the site of "Octopussy"

Domesticated camel

Undomesticated husband

Inside the walls of a massive fort Kumbal Garh

This is a good shot of the type of scaffolding that is used in building most structures, including that crazy highrise below in Mumbai.

This looks like my dad when he used to have a mustache!

Apparently the cows are um.....investigating? Yes, yes, investigating.
