Holi is the Indian holiday that marks the start of spring. You are supposed to throw colored powder on people in a playful way. We began the day with our neighbor knocking on our door to politely ask us if he could put powder on our faces in a symbol of good wishes. We obliged, but if you walk around outside people are not as polite as you'll likely be pelted with colors regardless of whether or not you want them all over your clothes. Mostly kids play Holi and the adults drink a cannibas laced drink that gets them high and knocks them out by lunchtime. It was eerily quiet after 1pm that day with no one on the streets, and we realized it was because people got wasted earlier in the day.
This is how Dan started the day
When you wash the color off, it's quite difficult to remove and turns different colors. This was originally created by black powder that turned into bright pink.

Looks like you guys are having an awesome adventure. Stefanie gave me the address for your blog awhile ago. I miss you both. Your pictures of India are very nice. Love you, take care.
